Question

Answer

I am registered for the course.  Can I begin before the first day of class?   Using the access codes posted on this website you can access specific details about the course organization and structure as well as begin reading the first three chapters in the text when the Cc Course ID is posted on this website.
Is this a self-paced course?   No, there are specific due dates that must be honored.
How are quizzes and tests administered?   Following each chapter, you will complete an unproctored online quiz.  HOWEVER, you will be required to complete  paper-and-pencil proctored midterm and final exams.
I am not very good in math.  Will this course be too difficult for me?   Before taking an online course, you should carefully assess your learning style and self-motivation. This course does require a high level of independent learning and self-direction.
How much time is required for this class?   A typical college-level course requires 2 - 3 study hours for each hour of lecture.  For MATH 1530 (3 credit hour course), the number of 'lecture' hours is 40.  Therefore the number of 'study' hours is between 80 - 120.  Based on this plan, you should plan to spend between 120 and 160 hours of time on this course.  Over an eight week period, this is an average of  15 to 20 hours per week.   If you find the material particularly difficult, plan for your weekly commitment to exceed that range to approximately 25 hours.
