SNAKES ALIVE!

Demonstration Event – SSC-E206A

Dr. D. Snyder (Biology Department)

A discussion of several local species of snakes, emphasizing their ecology, economic importance, some common myths, and their suitability as pets. Suggestions on the housing and care of snakes as pets will be offered. Techniques for reliably distinguishing venomous from non-venomous species will be emphasized. A rattlesnake-milking demonstration will be given, and snake bite treatment discussed. Opportunity to handle live snakes will be provided, for those desirous.
